Hello, Investigators

Welcome to the Isle of Wight Resilience Challenge, part of the National Digital Twin Programme.

Due to the severity of our situation, Isle of Wight Emergency Services have requested your team’s support in investigating a potential disaster unfolding in Newport as we speak. Your findings will directly impact how they manage these developing events.

Are you up for the challenge? Can your team work together and help Island residents?

Morning Briefing

Thank you for answering the call and stepping up to face a difficult challenge that will test your ability to gather, manage, filter and analyse information, before making decisions about how we can resolve this critical situation.

Your job is to look at the area impacted, understand what is in the danger zone and how we could mitigate any impact a “worst case” scenario could have on it. We need to understand about the people and the infrastructure that could be affected. The different types of people, requirements, and factors. The various infrastructure sectors and how they have deep interdependencies reaching across the whole island.

This morning whilst excavating the foundations on a construction site next to the Medina Bridge in Newport, the engineers discovered what they believe to be an unexploded WW2 bomb. The initial inspection identifies it as an SC1000. Due to the location and local geology a 600m radius evacuation zone has been declared.

Emergency services have been called in to evacuate the area and control the situation. But they need your help. Please watch the briefing video below and await further alerts.
