Additional Questions Following Bomb Explosion

The incident has taken a turn for the worse!

At 12:00 today, the Unexploded Ordnance prematurely detonated, causing a large explosion. Luckily no one has been injured. However, there are reports of damage to critical infrastructure in the area, with a lack of water pressure, power and mobile communications it will be difficult for anyone in the Newport area to stay in touch and in their own homes till these services are restored.

Emergency services need to act fast and have asked to be briefed on how they need to handle the incident. They will need answers to the following questions:

1. What Infrastructure is impacted by this escalation of the incident?

  1. Make sure you look at both primary and interconnected networks.
  2. Think about connected impacts that might not be obvious!

2. How will you protect further impact to life, the environment and critical infrastructure?

3. Do you need to amend your evacuation plans? Detail out the plan of how it needs to happen.

  1. Who has priority?
  2. What can they take with them?
  3. Where is the meeting point?
  4. How will they be transported?
  5. Where are they going to?
  6. How will you supply food, water and other essentials?

4. What is your course of action to save Newport, its community and also the island?

  1. What will you direct each of the emergency services to do?
  2. Detail out the sequence of events (Who, What, When etc)
