Outline for Meeting 4/3/24

Dear all

Following on from last week’s introduction to Alison and Vicki at Class of Your Own, this is your invitation to the next Information Management Curriculum Group meeting.

As discussed then, the intention is to build an Information Management Curriculum collaboratively with Isle of Wight secondary schools. Why us? The Isle of Wight has been chosen as a pathfinder by the Department of Business and Trade for the National Digital Twin Programme. This programme has several strands around improving the use of data and virtual planning to support improvements in the physical world around us. Attached are a few slides which explain this in more detail. Education is a key strand of the initiative to ensure that our future workforce is skilled in understanding and managing information. This is the project you are involved in; the creation of an Information Management Curriculum blended into the core National Curriculum to enhance students’ digital information handling skills.

Class of Your Own was engaged to support the project as they have successfully built a curriculum related to the construction industry called ‘Design, Engineer, Construct’, or DEC, which now is a formal qualification for GCSE and A-Level. The IM Curriculum may grow into that, however at this point we are concentrating on creating solid foundations.

Alison and Vicki are working hard sifting through a huge amount of curriculum information which was created over the last six months and are looking at mapping this to the current national curriculum. At the next meeting they will share with us progress made to date and discuss next steps.

Your commitment is one meeting per month of 1.5hr in duration. Any documentation you are asked to review and comment on will be with you the week before the meeting.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, this meeting has had to move to Monday afternoons instead of Tuesday. Please let me know if this raises any concerns.

We very much look forward to working with you on this exciting journey and should you have any questions, please get in touch with me.

Kind regards
